The Afghan government on Monday announced a temporary halt to the release of Taliban prisoners, saying that more will not be released until the Taliban releases a total of 200 security force members. So far the Taliban has freed 105, according to the National Security Council.
The remarks were made by Jawed Faisal, a spokesman for the NSC. Faisal said that the Afghan Government has so far released 1,000 Taliban prisoners.
